Is it time to buy a Saas or a newsletter?
I hope y’all are having a good week so far!
I have two somewhat unconventional picks this week.
1) SaaSrefs
SaaSrefs is a directory that ranks various kinds of software-as-a-service (SaaS), roughly based on web traffic analytics, but also based on community input. Ranking criteria include fastest growing, newest arrivals, top tools and user drop off.
I find the user drop off bit very interesting - especially since this newsletter focuses on buying tiny businesses that are often SaaS businesses. Might be compelling to try it out even from a research perspective. If there’s a drop off in usage or traffic, it could be an eye opener for anyone purchasing a business.
They are still pre-revenue, but this idea seems pretty interesting - a good purchase for someone who can figure out a path to monetization, as well as the marketing needed to build a community around it.
I have to say, the design for the SaaSrefs website is pretty slick - shout out to Sarah Zimmerman.
Cost: $1,500
Purchase on: Tiny Acquisitions
2) A Formula 1 Newsletter: Apex Bite
This is definitely one for the racing fans, of which I am one! APEX Bite is a Formula 1 newsletter catering mostly to a US-based audience. They cover race details, driver stats, F1 history and so much more. If any of you are super fans of the sport, you can tap into a ready audience.
Per the front end of their website, they have 11,000 subscribers already - no mean feat.
No word on if it’s been monetized or not, but with 11,000 subscribers - it’s not hard to see a path to monetization, especially for the die-hard F1 fans.
Cost: $7,500
Purchase on: Tiny Acquisitions
As always, let me know what kind of content you’d like me to feature in this newsletter! Love it when I hear from my readers 🙂
